Design a Machine or Environment?

This was the key question to be answered.

The concepts utilised within the design of the Digester are based entirely around the needs of the earthworm.

Earthworms breath air and therefore live near the surface of the materials they inhabit. Suspending the organic mass provides oxygen to all exposed surfaces and by partitioning the mass further provides yet more oxygen and surface area that the earthworm will inhabit. This aspect proved to be the key to enhancing processing capability within a given footprint.

Moisture control, temperature management, and a dark environment were all aspects that required us to provide solutions for. After much development our design concepts have resulted in an optimised environment for the earthworm..

Getting these concepts understood and resolved has resulted in what is widely recognised as the most advanced vermiculture system available. offering minimal management requirements and maximised processing capability.
